Exploring the possibilities of the Jesse Tree
Jesse Tree Explanation
What is the Jesse Tree?
The Jesse Tree is a symbolic representation of Jesus’ genealogy, tracing His lineage through biblical figures, starting with Jesse, the father of King David. Each ornament or image on the tree represents a key ancestor or story, connecting Old Testament prophecies to Christ’s birth, celebrated during Advent.
How do you do the Jesse Tree?
One way construct the Jesse Tree is to each day during advent, you will hang a new ornament on the tree and read a passage. Many will start this process on Decemeber 1 for simplicity but from the First Sunday in Advent is a good option.
Choose a tree branch without leaves that has a main branch with lots of smaller branches attached to it. The tree branch should be about two to three feet long. Place the branch in a bucket of dirt or rocks and cover the bucket with green fabric, felt, or paper. Make a mobile using a tree branch. Each child can make their own image from the selection.
